A cent is a fraction of the currency in a number of countries, equivalent to 1/100 of its value ie 100 cents = one dollar. One of the most famous examples of countries using this system is the United States of America as one percent of the US dollar and is denoted only ¢ or c.
The term is also used to describe one percent of the euro in EU countries.
