It was built during the reign of Pepi II of the sixth dynasty, with additions by Montohotep III of the 11th dynasty. The Ptolmies built the existing temple on the ruins of the previous one and Roman Emperors added to it . It is considered a complete temple and was dedicated to the Goddess Hathor, the Goddess of fun, dancing and music. Dandara is Tentires in Greek, a name derived from the ancient Egyptian "Ayona"- N- Ntr" which means temple of the worshiped one , it was the capital of the sixth nome of Upper Egypt and is located on the west bank 665 km south of Cairo, Dandara Temple has 32 small crypts which are very difficult to reach as they are  carved within the walls.
