The National Institute for Astronomical and Geophysics Research is one of the oldest scientific institutes in North Africa and the Middle East. Its establishment dates back to 1839 in the Bulaq region of Cairo as an observatory for celestial bodies. In 1903, it settled in Helwan.



Since its inception, the Institute has witnessed a tremendous development in all branches of astronomy and geophysics with its precise specialization. It has also established several observatories and stations throughout the country and has become a home of expertise in the field of its various disciplines
