The New Urban Communities Authority, a body affiliated to the Egyptian Ministry of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities, is the state agency responsible for urban development and the creation of new cities and urban communities. It was established in 1979 under the rule of former President Muhammad Anwar Sadat in accordance with Law No. 59.
