Law number 64 was issued on June 26th 1933 AD authorizing the minting of L.E 10000 worth of two and half millieme nickel coins i.e 4 million pieces as per the request of the Chamber of Commerce to Facilitate market trading of sugar which had the price of 97.5 millieme per standard sac . The oddity of this Value required mintage in an octagonal shape so as to stand out among all other coins . This coin had a short life it was withdrawn from circulation as it was not popular and also because the abundance of the half millieme and the two milliemes coin . It was minted at the Birmingham Mint house without a mint mark this value was never minted again
